GSM modem for decentralised monitoring tasks

Insys GSM Logo
The Insys GSM Logo, a GSM modem, allows users to turn mini PLCs from Siemens' Logo series into a cost-efficient fault detection and remote control system for decentralised monitoring tasks.
In order to ensure the optimal use of all functions, Insys Microelectronics has adapted its communication device to Logo Version 0BA6.
The new modem version features optimally adapted firmware, which enables the monitoring of function blocks and status values (PA buffer) without interfering with the PLC program.
The device is directly connected to the PLC via its serial interface (RS232), which enables the system to send alarm messages to mobile phones, request actual values and control switching relays via SMS or dial tone (Run, Stop).
In a similar move, Insys GSM modems also allow users to establish cost-efficient wireless remote maintenance and control functions when combined with the Moeller Easy MFD, Easy 800, Easy 500 and Easy 700 PLCs.
Special protocol that is adapted to the PLC enables the GSM modems to monitor the status of the inputs/outputs, the internal flags and the actual data values and to transmit commands to the PLC.
Data values can be included in text messages that are sent out by SMS request or at given times.
User-written SMS messages can be sent if preconfigured limits are exceeded or if the device's interrupt inputs are triggered.
A confirmation request for received messages can be specified as well.
Insys GSM modems for micro-automation applications are available in kit form, which includes serial cables to connect to the controllers and GSM antenna; just the addition of a suitable SIM card is required to interface to an existing controller.
