Edevice offers analogue-to-wireless converter
Edevice
Wirex converter
Edevice's Wirex is an analogue-to-wireless converter that allows legacy equipment with built-in analogue modems to connect to the cellular packet data or circuit-switched data networks.
Thousands of expensive fixed lines used for connecting devices can be replaced by cellular SIM cards, thus decreasing the overall telecommunication budget and offering global mobility for end users, according to the company.
Acting as a plug-and-play PSTN-to-GPRS gateway, the Wirex does not require any changes to the host/connected device; the user simply unplugs the phone jack from the wall socket and plugs it into the Wirex traditional dial-up PSTN network emulation input socket.
The data previously transferred over the modem link is automatically transmitted over IP frames on the GPRS or GSM Data CSD cellular network.
