Access point device from Quatech creates local Wi-Fi network between up to eight clients

Quatech

AirborneAP Access Point model APXG-Q5420

Quatech has introduced the external AirborneAP Access Point, designed to enable M2M equipment to become the centre of a self-sufficient Wi-Fi network that allows quick access to data and resources on Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as laptops and handhelds.

Protected by a rugged metal enclosure, the external AirborneAP has a power supply input of 5–36VDC with terminal block and barrel jack connections, as well as a 10/100 Ethernet port and up to two serial ports.

The technology includes secure authentication using WPA2 (AES-CCMP) and a DHCP server to provide unique addresses for up to eight authenticated clients.

For example, an integrated AirborneAP Access Point can turn an isolated piece of equipment in a service truck into a wireless gateway, creating a Wi-Fi network around the vehicle that enables multiple handhelds or tablets to communicate with each other.
