Delcam has added more powerful vector-editing tools to ArtCAM Express, enabling the software to create more complex 3D designs. The price of the entry-level software, which is designed for hobbyists and users new to CNC machining who are involved in engraving and decorative metalworking, remains at £99, €125 or $149.
Delcam’s PowerMILL Robot programming system has helped five mechanical engineering students from Aalborg University achieve top marks for their BSc project. The students, from the university’s Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, developed a prototype of a robot-based milling solution for concrete company BC Industry from the nearby town of Løkken.
Delcam will demonstrate the new Ember 3D printer from Autodesk and a development version of ArtCAM JewelSmith with support for 3D printing at the Jewellery & Watch Fair to be held at the NEC, Birmingham, as part of the Spring Fair from 1–5 February.
Delcam CRISPIN will demonstrate the potential of its ShoeMaker design software in the mass customisation of footwear by displaying hybrid shoes at the SIMAC exhibition to be held in Milan from 25–27 February. The hybrid shoes feature a leather upper, with the sole and heel produced by 3D printing, bringing together traditional and new methods of shoemaking in their creation.
The latest developments in Delcam’s range of CAM programming software will be demonstrated at the Pacific Design & Manufacturing exhibition to be held in Anaheim, California, from 10–12 February. The main highlights will be the 2015 R2 releases of the FeatureCAM feature-based CAM software and of the PowerMILL software for the programming of high-speed and five-axis machining.
