Programming the multi-axis control systems for robots has traditionally been a complex and laborious task. Robots can be programmed using teach-and-learn methods, but these require a lot of fine tuning to achieve the perfect path. Delcam’s Powermill Robot allows users to program robots with external axes as easily as they can program a five-axis NC machine. Accurate 3D simulation shows exactly how the robot will behave.

At IMTS 2014 in Chicago on 8–13 September, Delcam will launch the 2015 version of its Powershape Pro CAD-for-CAM system for modelling for manufacture and reverse engineering. The new release will include improvements in direct modelling, surface modelling and reverse engineering, plus support for data from Creaform Handyscan handheld scanners.
CNC Polystyrene makes large-scale models for scenery, in-store displays and special events for customers including Gap, Harvey Nicholls, Selfridges and Harrods. The company uses Powermill Robot from Delcam and an ABB640 robot, which enable it to produce bigger and better items while maintaining a high level of accuracy and consistency.
Delcam has announced that it is putting members of its development team through the Seco Technical Education Programme (STEP) to update their understanding of the latest developments in cutting tool technology.
Stephen Webster, a designer of luxury jewellery whose pieces have been worn by celebrities such as Madonna, Kate Moss, Sir Elton John and Rihanna, is using ArtCAM Jewelsmith from Delcam to help create dramatic designs.
