Delcam supplies Partmaker CAM software to medical device manufacturer
Delcam
Partmaker CAM software
By using Delcam’s Partmaker CAM software to programme its machines, High Point Precision Products — a medical device manufacturer — has grown from a business based in a family basement to a fifteen-man company, whilst remaining competitive and providing customers with a fast turnaround and short lead times.
The company uses seven multi-axis CNC Swiss-type lathes including a range of Citizen L, K and M series models, a Star SA and two Haas vertical machining centres that are required to be kept running as much as possible, regardless of the lot size.
High Point Precision Products said that the best way to achieve this is to make complex parts — something that it says Partmaker has helped it to do.
The CAM software enables faster and more automated programming, which reduces errors on the shop floor.
As the system also allows for the fast programming and a quick turn-around of parts, High Point can now provide parts for a wide customer base using a relatively small number of machines.
Key benefits of product applications
- Getting the programming of a part right first time leads to faster set-up times.
- Helped High Point to compete with larger firms.
- Allows operators to see where they have excess spindle waiting time, allowing them to optimise part cycle times before sending a program to the machine.
- Allows quick changes to be made when designing parts.
