IEC 61131 update
KW-Software has presented Multiprog 5.0, the updated version of the IEC 61131-3 programming system, at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2008 expo.
It provides full compatibility with controllers already in use, and provides a completely revised user interface with floating windows, auto-hide, drag-and-drop and various selectable layouts.
The graphical editor for programming in FBD/Ladder/SFC combines free graphical editing with enhanced autorouting and autoplacement, as well as optimised keyboard operation.
The automatic project generation fully supports the PLCopen XML format.
PLC projects can be created from Matlab Simulink.
Fieldbus integration is implemented by means of KW-Software's FDT-Container which is part of the .Net connected automation framework.
Commissioning of a PLC program is considerably shortened by a simulation user interface that allows extended application tests, including time response tests.
All Multiprog 4.0 functions are available in the updated version, and full project compatibility is ensured.
The ProconOS embedded CLR runtime system includes visual studio C# programming, single-chip support and download changes, and can improve existing control systems.
The Multiprog 5.0 OEM release is immediately available for customer use, and includes user interface in German and English.
In April 2009, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Chinese will follow.
