Engineering and design consultancy Atkins applies and delivers technical excellence across the lifecycle of oil and gas facilities. However, its office in Aberdeen encountered a problem on an oil pipeline when two adjacent copper tubes carrying de-ionised water were energised with alternative currents. IDAC was contracted to evaluate the induced current density and the Joule heating in the pipe using Ansys Emag simulation.
