Altair Engineering

Acusolve V1.8B CFD simulation tool

The Acusolve V1.8B computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tool from Altair Engineering is part of the Hyperworks series of computer-aided engineering software, and is suitable for analysing complex designs driven by multiphysics and multidisciplinary simulations.

The software includes an improved version of Acufieldview, an OEM version of Intelligent Light’s Fieldview CFD post-processor that enables the management of large and complex CFD data visualisation requirements. According to Altair, it includes a codebase that produces improved graphics performance, and a common graphical user interface on all platforms.

Additionally, Acusolve’s solver now uses three new turbulence models — Menter’s Shear Stress Transport (SST) model, SST-detached eddy simulation model and K-Omega, a 2008 variant of Wilcox’s k-ω mode. These are an addition to the software’s existing models, which include large eddy simulation, detached eddy simulation and a range of Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes models.

The simulation tool also includes the Acuconsole GUI, a pre-processor that offers full support for edge-based surface mesh extrusions. This allows users to mesh directionally dependent features, at the same time as retaining the flexibility of automatic unstructured meshing on complex geometries.

Clients registered with Altair can download Acusolve from the Hyperworks software downloads site, and use it with their Hyperworks license.
