TPS-1 device

MSC has introduced a Profinet I/O single-chip device interface from Renesas Electronics for applications such as compact modules, remote I/O devices, motor drives and other industrial peripherals.

The TPS-1 device — which is equipped with an integrated Ethernet switch, two MACs and two PHYs — is designed to enable users to quickly and cost effectively build high-performance factory and machine networks.

According to the company, the device meets Profinet Version 2.3, conformance class C, as well as Profinet IRT, and simplifies the Profinet connection of microprocessors, microcontrollers and field-programmable gate arrays via an established serial or parallel interface.

Thanks to its BGA housing measuring just 15 x 15mm with 1mm pitch, a total area of just 260mm2 is required for a complete interface with RJ45 connector.
