Dawsonrentals has provided 11 of Aspray Transport and Logistics Toyota forklift trucks with Lamerholm's transmission protection (TP) system.
Aspray Transport and Logistics offers a nationwide next-day delivery service through its network of depots, fleet and employees.
The Lamerholm TP is a microprocessor-based control system designed to protect transmission and save tyres, preventing operators from slamming the truck from forward to reverse above a preset speed and adjustable engine revs.
It also stops the trucks being used as bulldozers and limits fast starts.
The system works by allowing the gearbox and drive train to be totally passive when changing direction.
This protects the forklift truck from potential wheel spin and premature drive train failure.
Its compact design means it can be easily hidden and there is full anti-tamper and fault diagnostics built into the dashboard display.
A green light shows when the driver is allowed to change direction and red warning lights indicate an engine or speed signal fault.
As well as the display, a buzzer will sound to alert the driver to any potential problems.
