Instrumentation support programme targeted at process plants
Endress+Hauser
Base Audit programme
The Base Audit instrumentation support programme from Endress and Hauser is designed to identify process instruments and analyser measurement devices used within a plant, to determine the maintenance and calibration procedures for individual devices and to keep them running at peak efficiency.
At the start of the programme, an Endress and Hauser consultant — with the help of plant maintenance personnel — locates and identifies each of a plant’s measurement devices. These and their application data — including serial number, tag, manufacturer, location, age, process conditions and what each device is measuring — are then entered in Endress and Hauser’s Wam Life Cycle Management database.
The consultant will then work with plant engineering, production and maintenance staff to define critical points and to assign each device a ‘criticality level’ of high, medium or low.
This information is used to present an overview of the installed base, and Endress and Hauser gives the client recommendations for improving maintenance. The plant will also receive a Wam database that includes the collected data.
The Base Audit is claimed to enable process plants to focus their maintenance efforts according to their resources and production requirements and to assess the complexity of maintaining older measurement devices. The plant can also resolve any out-of-date plant documentation that does not reflect the status of its installed measurement devices.
Key benefits
- Endress and Hauser can provide advice on methods and intervals for maintenance and calibration. This includes software tools to view and edit the maintenance plan as well as control and document maintenance and calibration work.
- The Wam Life Cycle Management database enables Endress and Hauser to provide additional documentation for measurement devices from any manufacturer.
- After creating an inventory of the plant’s stock, the company creates a segmented list of necessary and unnecessary spares. It can also provide other ways of covering needs that can result in stock reduction and a decrease in ageing stock write-downs.
- The Base Audit programme is intended to help the plant to conform to regulations while reducing the total cost of ownership.
