Serial interface can be used for process control, point-of-sale and measurements
Sealevel Systems
Comm 4.PCIe serial interface
Sealevel Systems’ Comm 4.PCIe serial interface is compatible with standard size PCI Express slots and can expand serial communications in applications such as test and measurement, process control and point-of-sale.
The four multi-functional serial ports on the interface can be individually configured for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485.
Each port uses a 16C954 buffered UART with 128byte Tx/Rx FIFOs which enables them to support data rates of up to 921.6Kbps.
Additionally, the interface’s Seacom software driver and utilities can use Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems for installation and operation.
Key product features
- The UART includes 9bit protocol framing support
- It is also register compatible with legacy software applications designed for 16C550 UARTs
- The interface derives a 62.5MHz clock from the PCI Express bus
- The clock is divided by a flexible 8-bit clock prescalar with 1/8 steps, which supports a wide range of baud rates
- In RS-485 mode line termination, pull-up and pull-down resistors for each port are selectable via dipswitch
- RS-485 Echo can be enabled/disabled via dipswitch
- Modem control signals implemented in RS-232 mode
- PCI Express X1 compliant
- Automatic RS-485 enable/disable in hardware
- COMM 4.PCIE also includes 36in cable that terminates in four DB9M connectors
- Prices start at $369.00
- Quantity discounts are also available
