It is really true that there are people who thinks that engineers are for repairing things rather then inventing it but they should understand that without engineers the world cannot develop and there will be no new technology available.

I am currently studying engineering at Aberdeen university. It has taken me two years to be able to say I understand what an engineer does, and believe me i have been trying to find out. I was beginning to think there was some magic circle esque secret society keeping this massive secret.

I dont believe that the skills shortage is a myth. In my experience there are lots of engineering firms looking for new recruits but the main issue appears to be matching skills to the employees available.

Its a nice decision for a student to choose engineering as carrier goal for him. After completion, they can make any field as their way of income. But the mai part is choosing branch or stream.

Only 8.7 percent of engineers in the UK are women - where did this statistic come from? What is the stat for other countries especially China, Japan and Korea?
