NVX5100 vertical machining centre
The Mori Seiki NVX5100 vertical machining centre will also help service Fifab's customers in the oil and gas, medical, bioscience and defence industries
The two machines will be used alongside Fifab’s existing NL2500 and NL3000 lathes — which the client has found to be reliable, with good repeatability, back-up and service. Buying more Mori Seiki machines also helped to maintain compatibility within the workshop.
The company has said that the NLX2500MC’s four axis expand its capability for one-hit machining, which reduces manufacturing times and increases the accuracy and quality of its products. This, it said, will help to increase Fifab’s market share.
NLX and NVX machines both feature high-quality castings manufactured by Mori Seiki, as well as slideways on each axis that improve the units’ dynamic rigidity and their vibration damping capabilities.
Additionally, air and cooling pipes and coolant circulation inside the castings reduce the effect of thermal displacement. As a result displacements on the NVX are less than 7µm and displacements on the NLX are less than 2µm.
Key benefits of product application
- The rigidity of the machines increases tool life and heavy-duty cutting performance
