Flood lights illuminate wrist and pocket watches

Waldmann Lighting

SNE 136 flood lights

Waldmann Lighting has provided flood lights for the International Watch Company's (IWC's) Neubau West building in north-east Switzerland.

The building, which opened in September 2008, is mostly made out of steel, concrete, glass and aluminium.

The facade of the four-story building is entirely made out of glass, allowing for the high and spacious offices to be flooded with light.

Thanks to the open floor plan, the workplaces are set up in such a way that the employees are able to interact with one another.

By changing to a modernised assembly system, workplaces were created for all 230 employees.

The semi-automated tables are infinitely adjustable and are equipped with electronic devices to check the quality of each task on the spot, which, in turn, increases the efficiency.

The illumination of the workplaces is said to be just as important as the ergonomic design.

One important criterion with regards to the best-suited luminaire was the produced shadiness of the light.

To reduce direct glare, SNE 136 flood lights with flicker-free electronic ballasts were installed at workplaces that require a softer kind of shadiness.

The light head is designed in such a way that it can be adjusted with one hand to eliminate light reflections when working with high-gloss material.
