Onzo Smart Energy Kit Zigbee edition
Onzo and Telegesis used the recent Zigbee alliance Smart Energy Forum in Dublin, which took place on 13 February 2009, to unveil the Onzo Smart Energy Kit Zigbee edition.
This provides consumers with a clear, simple display of real-time data, helping them understand and manage energy usage.
The Zigbee edition of the Onzo Smart Energy Kit is made up of a combination of a Zigbee home-energy display, which integrates into the consumers' or utilities' home area network, and a software suite, which enables consumers to manage their energy use online through a web portal.
Onzo and Telegesis have been working closely over several months and in addition to hardware support, Telegesis implemented the Zigbee Smart Energy Application Profile for Onzo on its ETRX2 Zigbee module, which provides a complete, certified Zigbee solution allowing designers to add Zigbee functionality into a design without the need for RF design knowledge or embedded firmware skill.

The ultra-low-power wireless networking standard offers secure, reliable, home area networks (HAN) and makes it easy to embed wireless communications into a variety of metering products.
Zigbee enables devices to assemble into robust wireless mesh networks that configure and heal automatically and has emerged as the prime standard for wireless HAN and metering applications.
The Zigbee Smart Energy Profile defines the standard behaviour of home area network (HAN) devices such as home displays like the Onzo Smart Energy Kit, which are key components in the emerging area of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), enabling communication between utilities and HAN devices.
