Carbon capture and storage workshop

The German Geophysical Society (DGG) has initiated an international DGG/SEG workshop on carbon capture and storage (CCS) entitled 'Geophysical Aspects of CO2 Storage - Challenges and Strategies'.

The workshop will take place on 19 March 2010 in Bochum, Germany, and runs in continuation to the annual assembly of the DGG, where other CCS-related sessions are scheduled.

This one-day workshop aims to provide an overview of the latest research related to CCS worldwide, focussing on geophysical methods.

The scientific sessions will deal with site characterisation, rock physics and monitoring.

In addition, an introduction session covers opportunities and fundamental strategies, while the closing session tackles operational achievements and public outreach.

The workshop will address scientists, energy providers, the industrial sector, politicians and other CCS-interested groups.
