Allegro Microsystems offers Hall-effect latch for automotive transmission position sensing

Allegro Microsystems

A1244 two-wire Hall-effect latch

The A1244 two-wire Hall-effect latch from Allegro Microsystems is suitable for use in automotive transmission position sensing and motor commutations applications and can function in harsh environments.

The latch features on-chip transient protection and a zener clamp, for protection against overvoltage conditions on the supply line.

It also uses a high-frequency, four-phase chopper-stabilisation technique that the company says reduces the noise output, results in less switch-point variation over temperature, and faster setting times.

Additionally, the A1244 can withstand the conditions specified in ISO 7637-2 and 40V load dump.

The device is offered with two supply current options — 5.0–6.9mA and 2.0–5.0mA — and two package styles. The ’LH’ is a SOT-23W style, low-profile package suitable for surface-mount applications and the ’UA’ is a TO-92 style, three-lead miniature single inline package that can be used for through-hole mounting.
