Cable network improves services at Australian bank

Datwyler

Westpac Banking

In response to Westpac Banking's request for a copper and fibre-optic cabling system for its new London headquarters, Excel IT installed a flexible and robust Unilan cabling system by Datwyler.

Westpac's strategic priorities are particularly centred on improving distribution and customer offerings, so it was important that the communication network within the London HQ was reliable, flexible and robust.

The bank appointed Coleman Bennett International (CBI), an experienced full IT design and implementation project management consultancy.

The Unilan network consists of 3,000 RJ45 ports over three floors, fed from three communications rooms via 100km of Category 6 copper data cable.

For the comms rooms, one of them a small data centre, Datwyler also delivered OM3 multimode fibre-optic cables with LC connectors and pigtails and all necessary panels, shelves and shutters.

The installation work was carried out by Excel IT, a London-based IT managed service provider for voice/data infrastructure.
