The FL Switch SMN 6TX/2POF-PN has polymer and HCS fibres that can be connected via the fibre-optic interfaces with SCRJ connections, facilitating ease and speed of assembly in the field — requiring now crimping, gluing or polishing and taking under two minutes.

According to Phoenix Contact, combining this switch with the new field assembly-capable HCS fibres, with gradient index FL FOC PN-C-HCS-GI-200/230, enables transmission distances of up to 250m to be achieved.

It uses integrated fibre-optic diagnostics to support users when they are troubleshooting faults, through continually measuring the received power and displaying the optical system reserve in the web-based management system, using an SNMP object or Profinet communication.

Key features

  • Fibre-optic cable connectors are assembled in less than two minutes
  • Default operation is Profinet
  • Can be used as a Profinet IO device with PDEV function
  • Can be used in redundant Ethernet networks with RSTP Fast Ring Detection
  • Also suitable for an MRP environment
  • Multitask filtering, with an IGMP snooping function, for Ethernet/IP networks
