The 800 series embedded system is also suitable for applications including digital signage, kiosk systems, narrowcasting, cameras and ticket printers for security and payment systems.

The platform is able to withstand 5G vibration at 10–500Hz (IEC-68-2-6) and can survive a 100G peak acceleration for 6ms (IEC-68-2-27).

Key features

  • Compact Flash comes as standard and offers high resilience for the operating system and data
  • Anti-Shock mounting is available for a 2.5in (6.4cm) hard disk drive
  • Extensive communication capability comes as standard with dual LAN and four serial ports and four USB ports are provided for use with peripherals devices such as GPS systems, touchscreens, scanners and card readers
  • LVDS and VGA ports are also supplied as standard
  • Compact 166 x 250 x 60mm fanless and dustproof cast aluminium enclosure supports Windows XP, XP Embedded, Win-CE and Linux running on Intel processors up to 1.8GHz Pentium M
  • 9–32VDC wide-range power module protects against the voltage surges and sags normally experienced in vehicles, while an OS shutdown delay function makes sure the system will turn off correctly when power is lost
