I don't see any reason why we can't start to implement multi level traffic if the vehicles are feasible. With sensors in the road to keep the vehicles in line preventing them from straying off.

I think that there are two sides to this - the high quality of our manufacturing output - and the cost of that output.
I have always thought with the rise of China and other eastern manufacturing countries we could take the advantage of a gap and turn ourselves into a high value product country, supporting cutting edge innovation in all fields (even more than we do already).
There are small software start ups - Milk Roundabout I think its called that is a small step to that vision but I think we need to stop kidding ourselves that we can compete with the output of China and stop clinging onto the past.

I wonder how many people on here, who seem to repeatly write off the input to the UK from bankers etc, actually know what is involved in those roles?
Not defending them, just playing devil's advocate. This is a business world, which is not dominated by engineers (no matter how much training those CEOs have, they aren't using it now). It is a world where value for money dominates:
All those complaining about low salaries, what are you doing to make yourselves indespensible to the company so that you can take charge of your own wage negotiations?
