Newport offers hexapod suitable for complex motion applications
Newport
Hexapod
Newport’s hexapod is suitable for complex motion applications that involve high loads and require accuracies in up to six independent axes.
The unit enables six degrees of movement — X, Y, Z, pitch, roll and yaw — and is driven by six improved versions of Newport’s DC servomotor-driven LTA actuators.
A specific HXP100-ELEC controller is supplied with the hexapod and masters synchronised transformations from Cartesian input co-ordinates to the motion of the hexapod legs.
It also features instrument grade inputs/outputs, hardware-based input triggers, event triggers, high-speed data acquisition, fast TCP/IP communication and an integrated TCL programming language for onboard processes.
Additionally, the hexapod’s XPS controller enables users to select a virtual pivot point for all rotations.
Key features
- Anti-friction coated spherical joints provide high rigidity
- The XPS controller can be used to relocate the pivot point or the entire co-ordinate system
- Two user-definable co-ordinate systems — tool (moves with the hexapod) and work (stationary co-ordinate systems)
- Both systems can enable incremental displacements in Cartesian co-ordinates
- Positions can be calculated from one system to another by a function call
