THK details linear motor actuator offering
THK
Linear motor actuator
Linear motor actuators from THK are available in four different models, with a total of eight versions available for use in almost all applications.
Most applications can be accommodated with either the GLM or KLM series units.
The coreless models CLM, RDM and RDM-mini are suitable when requiring more special needs, such as higher precision, reduction in low-speed ripple or limited space.
Direct drives are generally the best choice to fulfil needs of high dynamics, high precision and low noise.
This technology allows flexibility to offer solutions to a variety of applications.
Multiple sliders can be incorporated and controlled either independently or synchronised with high positioning precision on a single axis.
The universal GLM is based on an aluminium profile with a compact rectangular section and is available in four sizes.
The thrust forces of this unit range from 30N to 3,100N, and the maximum stroke available in standard configuration is 4,000mm.
The design of the KLM type integrates the motor system and linear motion guides with a highly rigid steel profile.
This is similar to the ballscrew-driven THK actuators KR and SKR.
This offers a compact design with high rigidity.
The maximum travel speed of these linear motor actuators is specified as 5m/s and the highest permitted acceleration equates to 10g.
Optical linear encoders are incorporated as standard to provide a positioning repeatability of up to +/- 0.3 um.
A thrust force of more than 3kN is available with the GLM series product due to its wide cross-sectional design.
In addition, this series also benefits from a high ratio of effective stroke to overall length of the axis resulting from the relatively short slider length.
Depending on the linear motor actuator model, additional options such as covers, cable chains, sensors and limit switches are available.
The options include a compatible TD series servo driver, which is compliant with the RoHS directive and CE marking.
The specially designed and optimal-adjusted drivers are available in eight models to provide a power range of 50-3,000W.
Typical application fields of linear actuators with direct drive can be found in many laser processes, manufacturing of solar panels, glass working, packaging machines, transfer systems, semiconductor industry as well as test and measuring technology.
A leaflet with an overview of the different linear motor actuator series can be requested free from THK.
In situations when the THK standard-version linear actuators may not adequately meet specific application requirements, the company can offer the possibility of developing a customised solution.
