Yokogawa launches adaptor for use with AQ6370 optical spectrum analysers

Yokogawa - Test and Measurement

AQ6370 adaptor

Yokogawa has launched an adaptor for use with its AQ6370 series of optical spectrum analysers (OSAs) that is designed to enhance sensitivity, dynamic range and level stability in applications, including research and development, and production testing of optical devices and transmission systems.

It does this by reducing the divergence of light emitted from the input fibre and increasing the input signal to the OSA by 5dB.

Using the new fibre NA adaptor on a GI50/125 multi-mode fibre results in the fibre’s numerical-aperture (NA) value being divided by two.

The reduction in divergence of the optical input increases the monochromator optical throughput, producing a 5dB (factor three) increase in signal strength and resulting in better dynamic range in passive-component testing and better level stability in active device testing.

Key specifications

  • Covers 350 to 2,400nm wavelength range
  • Applicable to single-mode and multimode fibres
  • Wavelength accuracy of +/-0.01nm
  • Wavelength resolution of 0.02nm
  • Dynamic range of 78dB (typical)
  • Level range of -90dBm
  • Sweep speed of 0.2sec/100nm
