Nikon exhibits laser scanner at Control 2010
Nikon
Modelmaker MMDx laser scanner
Nikon Metrology is showcasing the Modelmaker MMDx series with digital ESP3 technology, which is suitable for scanning and inspection applications, at Control 2010, which runs until 7 May.
The Modelmaker MMDx series now scans nearly all sample materials and surface finishes by automatically using the most optimal laser stripe settings.
Modelmaker MMDx comes in different stripe widths and fits on Nikon Metrology and most other articulated arm brands.
Modelmaker MMDx scanners feature digital camera technology and third-generation Enhanced Sensor Performance (ESP3) to scan all sample materials and surface finishes.
Through ESP3 technology, Modelmaker MMDx digitises surfaces with varying colour or abrupt surface-finish transitions under any lighting conditions by adapting laser beam intensity point per point.
ESP3, combined with a latest-generation reflection filter, ensures that even highly reflective objects can be scanned without requiring spraying, according to Nikon.
Modelmaker MMDx laser scanners come in 50mm, 100mm and 200mm laser stripe widths to suit every inspection need.
The scanner is compatible with Nikon Metrology arms and most third-party articulated arms, including Faro and Romer and Cimcore.
For applications involving larger parts, Modelmaker MMDx technology is also available as part of the K-Scan Optical CMM system.
This scanning system allows the operator to freely walk around and take scans as desired.
Nikon Metrology Focus Handheld software supports the Modelmaker MMDx scanner, in addition to most third-party point-cloud software applications.
