Manufacturing process minimises transducer damage

transducer damage reducing manufacturing process

RDP Electronics has developed special expertise when designing transducers for applications in vacuum, to ensure both survival of the device and the avoidance of contamination of the vacuum.

RDP's manufacturing process mimimises the risk of damage to the transducer by means of slow pressure changes and also by modifying the transducer to ensure that there are no sealed cavities in which a pressure differential could cause damage.

Out-gassing into the vacuum is reduced by controlled 'baking' of the transducer to thoroughly dry out such materials.

For extreme applications the transducer can be fully welded.

For example, the transducer may be used to measure the position of a mirror in a space telescope where any particles coating the mirror could be catastrophic.

Fully welding the transducer ensures that the vapours are sealed inside the unit.
