Inertial unveils angular rotation sensor

Inertial Aerosystems

Horizon angular rotation sensor

Inertial Aerosystems is introducing a low-cost, solid-state angular rotation sensor desigend primarily for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Designated the Horizon unit, it is manufactured by US-based Systron Donner Inertial.

It incorporates a one-piece micro-machined vibrating quartz tuning fork sensing element that provides stability and reliability over temperature, with high resistance to shock and vibration.

Operating from a 12V DC power supply at less than 20mA with internal power regulation, it provides a simple output interface with a high level (0 to +/-5V DC) output signal and a 2.5V DC reference to allow for differential monitoring of the output.

Standard ranges are +/-90, +/-100 and +/-200deg/s, with input voltage of 8V to 15V DC.

The unit weighs 60g and measures 25.4mm x 50.5mm x 25.9mm.

Other features include low drift, fast start-up, while low noise offers higher accuracy and resolution.

This product is suitable where space and weight are at a premium and can be customised to various permutations.

Applications include antenna stabilisation systems, GPS augmentation of logistics vehicles and agricultural production, factory automation, plus medical/orthopaedic and instrumentation.
