Fibre-optic distributed temperature sensor can be used in oil and gas industries

Yokogawa

DTSX200 distributed temperature sensor

Yokogawa has released the DTSX200 distributed temperature sensor, which can function in extreme temperatures both on and offshore and is designed for use in oil, gas and industrial product operations, including in-well monitoring, LNG and refinery tank and pipeline leak detection and fire detection.

The fibre-optic temperatures sensor can be fed into wells to monitor temperature changes in underground formations.

It can operate within a temperature range of -40–65°C, has a power consumption of 16W or less and can be powered by a solar panel and battery if no other sources of power are available.

The company also offers a compact optical switch module for selecting up to 16 channels of monitoring points, which can be rack-mounted with the sensor.
