Laser level transmitter from ABB helps to improve reliability at wastewater facility

ABB

K-Tek LM200 laser level transmitter

A K-Tek LM200 laser level transmitter from ABB is helping a wastewater plant to improve reliability following issues with a hydrostatic level transmitter.

The wastewater company uses level measurement to activate pumps to a pre-treatment plant when the water reaches a pre-determined volume.

Previous measurement techniques failed to cope with the amount of debris and grit present in the effluent, which clogged up sensors, causing inaccurate readings and making them difficult to recalibrate.

The K-Tek LM200 transmitter is said to be particularly suitable for this application as it is specifically designed for the measurement of dry bulk solids, opaque liquids and slurries at distances of up to 200ft (61m).

It features an advanced timing system and a self-correcting signal-processing function that allows it to accurately measure level, distance and position in harsh conditions.
