USB module performs sound and vibration analysis

Data Translation

DT9837A USB module

The DT9837A from Data Translation is a multi-function USB module for portable noise and vibration analysis applications such as automotive testing, acoustics and sonar.

It has four independent 24-bit IEPE (integrated electronics piezo electric) sensor inputs that are synchronised with a tachometer input to provide data streams for field or laboratory use.

This small rugged module is self-powered via the USB connection to a PC or laptop.

BNC connections are provided for all I/O signals for secure operation.

The DT9837A USB module offers four simultaneous 24-bit Delta-Sigma A/Ds with support for IEPE inputs including programmable 4mA current source, AC or DC coupling and a gain of one or 10 per channel.

Two modules can be synchronised in master/slave configuration.

Tachometer input support in the A/D data stream allows rotational speed and synchronising measurements with 0.002deg resolution at 10,000rpm.

The module has a sampling rate of more than 52kHz per input channel.

The simultaneous operation of A/D and D/A subsystems can offer maximum performance.

One 24-bit Delta-Sigma D/A converter can be used for single-value or smooth-output waveform generation.

The device is available as a complete unit or as an OEM version without the enclosure.

The DT9837A is supported by Measure Foundry, Data Translation's rapid application development and solution-based software package.

This allows the user to create noise and vibration applications using the included library and applets.
