Penny and Giles provides position sensors and joystick controllers for agricultural trailer
Penny and Giles Controls
Contactless rotary position sensors and joystick controllers from Penny and Giles are helping to control the latest Transtacker trailer manufactured by Big Bale Company South.
The Transtacker multi-function trailer has recently had its control system upgraded and now features sophisticated electronics developed by Tedd Engineering.
Big Bale Company South’s previous Transtacker model used pairs of proximity sensors to indicate the position of 0 and 180°, but, as bales can vary in size, their travel couldn’t be monitored accurately if they were larger or smaller than the specified size and this could cause the machine to freeze.
Seeking a programmable sensor capable of providing a safe area within the function that would allow the machine to continue, Big Bale Company South turned to Penny and Giles, which provided the company with contactless Hall effect SRH501P rotary position sensors, in addition to JC6000 multi-axis joystick controllers.
Key benefits of product application
- The SRH501P enabled the company to increase or decrease the functional sensitivity
- It enabled the introduction of error codes that, when detected, allowed the machine to continue within safe limits
- The JC6000 made the trailer more straightforward to operate
- The display unit shows four joystick functions at all times to aid efficiency
- Big Bale South reported that the sensors and joystick controllers were mechanically robust
