TAOS ambient light and proximity sensors
Austriamicrosystems has supplied TAOS ambient light and proximity sensors for use in four models of the Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
The ambient light and proximity sensors used in the Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Gio, Galaxy Mini and Galaxy Neo models automatically adapt the display brightness according to the light environment and control the display and touchscreen on/off status when the phone is held to the ear.
According to Austriamicrosystems, the devices reduce the power consumption of mobile devices.
The company also provided MEMS microphones for other Samsung smartphone models, including the Galaxy S II.
