Laser velocimeters enable tube production
Polytec
Laser Velocimeters
Polytec's laser velocimeters deliver high precision for length and speed measurements in tube- and pipe-production processes.
Process repeatability and consistency is improved by eliminating errors due to changing wheel diameter, slippage and wear and tear, eliminating the need for frequent process calibration.
Polytec's LSV-1000 velocimeters are compact, robust, all-in-one measurement systems that are designed for direct replacement of existing contact encoder wheels for precise control of cut-to-length and final-length verification, or as a total-length footage counter.
Velocity range is up to 3,630m/min, while available working standoff distance is 300 to 1,000mm and repeatability is less than 0.02 per cent of reading.
The sensor integrates easily into process-control systems via the standard encoder pulse output, serial or network interfaces.
It measures reliably on all types of tube and pipe surface, including steel, aluminium copper, rubber, plastic and other materials, regardless of colour or texture.
Various standoff distances and speed ranges are available, in conjunction with a range of accessories to enable reliable operation in applications such as extruded tubing, high-precision medical tubing, welded pipe and seamless pipe production.
