CMR3000 angular rate sensor
VTI Technologies has announced that it has started volume production of the CMR3000, which is claimed to be the smallest and lowest-power-consuming digital output three-axis angular rate sensor.
The CMR3000 is designed for user interface and game applications.
The company's product manager, Pekka Kostiainen, explained that the sensor's low current consumption, sensitivity and small size make it suitable for consumer electronics manufacturers.
Kostiainen said: 'Due to gaming requirements, the measurement range is +/- 2,000dps with selectable measurement bandwidths.
'In the case of cell phones, the wafer-level package enables the smallest size of 3.1 x 4.2 x 0.8mm3 with digital SPI and I2C interfaces, which is a clear benefit,' Kostiainen added.
The CMR3000's small device size and location of the I/Os enable designers to optionally accommodate another manufacturer's sensor on the same layout.
This is said to offer a solution to high-volume customers with second-source requirements.
To support easy implementation of the CMR3000 VTI is providing HW and SW support to customers.
As an example, an Android driver is available including the library, documentation and demo applications.
Furthermore, VTI supports customers with optimising sensor signal processing for their application.
