Zwick Roell Testxpert testing software allows Woodbridge to link plants to a central system
Zwick Roell
Testxpert testing software
The ability of Zwick Roell’s Testxpert software to function in multiple languages has enabled Woodbridge Foam to create its ’Laboratory Standardisation and Information Management System’ (LSIMS), which links Zwick testing products at its plants around the world to a central computer system.
The LSIMS will enable control parameters for remote testing machines — used to measure the compression properties of seat foam materials — to be set via the centralised computer in order to maintain consistency.
Prior to the system, the testing machine in each factory — which test hundreds of types of seat cushion per day — had to be configured individually for each test, which took up time and resources and could be affected by language barriers.
The LSIMS enables Woodbridge to use one configuration on the testing machine and store all control parameters (which are automatically synchronised with local facilities) and product specifications on its central computer. It also improves safety as new configurations can be tested centrally before being released to other factories.
When fully rolled out it will enable the company to monitor its test laboratories across the world in real time.
Key benefits of product application
- Multi-language abilities of Testxpert removed ambiguity and misinterpretation from testing processes.
- It could be configured to Woodbridge’s style in order to reduce training needed.
- The software enabled a high level of control.
- It provided a foundation that enabled Woodbridge to develop its own system.
