Application note: FTIR determination of brominated flame retardants — RoHS software

‘FTIR determination of brominated flame retardants using an automated tool — RoHS software’
The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC will restrict the use of brominated flame retardants for electrical and electronic parts starting in July 2006. The consequence is that polybrominated biphenyls such as PBB and PBDE are not allowed to be used as flame retardant, or the presence of them should not be higher than 1,000ppm, which is the limit. This application note from Shimadzu introduces RoHS Software, which is a simple tool for analysing the base polymer and to analyse polybrominated substances in a polymer.

The Shimadzu DUH-211S ultra micro hardness tester, which is compatible with the measurement of micro objects, was used for the measuring hardness of hair.
In winemaking, freshly harvested grapes are crushed and the resulting juice (must) is collected. The must contains fermentable sugars and natural yeasts which, either by themselves or with the help of additional yeast cultures, start the fermentation process in which mainly ethyl alcohol and carbon dioxide are formed. This application note from Shimadzu explains how and why FTIR spectroscopy is applied for quality assurance or for product characterisation — for example, the determination ...
The Servopulser EHF-L series of electro-hydraulic fatigue testing machines from Shimadzu has been specifically developed for the research and development of new materials.
This application note from Shimadzu presents the Autograph system, which performs tensile, compression and bending tests on specimens to evaluate their characteristics.
This application note from Shimadzu focuses on the recently developed particle size measurement method used in Shimazdu’s IG-1000 particle size analyser — the ‘induced grating’ method.
