Application note: FTIR determination of brominated flame retardants — RoHS software

‘FTIR determination of brominated flame retardants using an automated tool — RoHS software’
The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC will restrict the use of brominated flame retardants for electrical and electronic parts starting in July 2006. The consequence is that polybrominated biphenyls such as PBB and PBDE are not allowed to be used as flame retardant, or the presence of them should not be higher than 1,000ppm, which is the limit. This application note from Shimadzu introduces RoHS Software, which is a simple tool for analysing the base polymer and to analyse polybrominated substances in a polymer.

As a proposed means for evaluating strength, a compression test was performed in the vicinity of the edge to measure the relationship between breaking strength and test force/displacement.
The Shimadzu DUH-211 dynamic ultra-micro hardness tester can test thin-film samples and has a function for converting to Vickers hardness according to ISO.
This application note presents a compression test performed on a typical rib specimen on a PDP rear panel using the Shimadzu MCT-W500 micro compression testing machine.
This application note introduces the use of EZTest for the texture analysis of salted salmon roe from different regions.
This application note from Shimadzu discusses the benefits of using the Hyper Vision HPV-1 ultra-high-speed camera to visualise shockwaves.
