Roundtable on Russian and CIS petrochemicals
SGS
SGS has announced it will sponsor the annual roundtable entitled 'Refining and Petrochemicals in Russia and CIS Countries', which will take place in Amsterdam from 1 - 3 December 2009.
Vladimir Ovcharov, head of the SGS Gost R Competence Center, will give a presentation about managing the risks in the Russian regulatory environment through inspection, testing, verification and certification.
Due to the current global instability in the refining and petrochemical industry, it is even more important for refineries and petrochemical plants to continue searching for new technology and upgrade opportunities.
Many Russian refineries require upgrades to comply with the international fuel-quality specifications.
Complying with these regulations has become a top priority for fuel producers.
However, these objectives can only be realised by securing governmental support and by building new business relations with leading technology developers.
To address this, general directors of refineries and petrochemical plants from all over Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as senior executives of leading technology providers, will meet at 'Refining and Petrochemicals in Russia and CIS Countries'.
A priority objective of this year's roundtable is to discuss how to accelerate the pace of modernisation and upgrade refinery and petrochemical plant programmes to boost their competitiveness and profitability, as well as how to overcome technological and investment challenges, achieve cost-efficiency and identify new opportunities for project partnerships.
At the conference, SGS will demonstrate its range of services for the refining and petrochemical industry.
On 3 December 2009, SGS will participate in 'Session 5: Achieving Operational Excellence at Refineries and Petrochemical Plants in Russia and the CIS and Delivering their Products to the Market'.
Ovcharov will present 'Managing Your Risks in the Russian Regulatory Environment - Inspection, Testing, Verification and Certification'.
Experienced in international and Russian standards alike, SGS helps companies obtain certificates and other permissive documents required by local regulations and/or customers in Russia and other CIS countries.
SGS is accredited by Gosstandart of Russia (former name of the Federal Agency on the Technical Regulation and Metrology) to provide Gost R Certification services.
Today, the Gost R Certificate of Conformity is the most common permissive document in Russia, testifying that products meet necessary safety standards.
SGS also helps exporters and investors obtain other approvals required by the Russian government.
SGS Industrial Services, one of the biggest business lines of the SGS Group, ensures that installations, materials, equipment, facilities and projects meet all quality and performance requirements, whether they are regulatory-, voluntary- or customer-based.
