It outputs a very stable harmonic series of frequencies, which cover the conducted EMC bands from 9kHz to 30MHz.

The levels at each frequency are calibrated before despatch and are traceable to national standards.

By using the CRSplus, test engineers can ensure that the measurements they obtain from their measuring system are accurate and have good integrity.

It also checks that the system has been connected correctly, pre-amplifiers are switched on and properly working and the receiver is in its correct mode.

The CRSplus is completely self-contained.

Power is provided from internal batteries (type AA) and it includes an output cable which is fitted with a mains plug.

This can be plugged directly into the LISN output socket.

Different mains plugs can be supplied to match the national type (US, UK, Euro and others).

The CRSplus is also very simple to use.

The user plugs into the LISN, uses the push button to select either the live (L1) or neutral (L2) output, and takes the measurement on the receiver or EMC analyser.

Comparing the results with the CRSplus calibration data will immediately highlight any inaccuracies or problems with the test system.

The output levels are set to be within 38dBuV-50dBuV across the full frequency range 50kHz-30MHz.

The harmonic spacing is 10kHz, which shows up as individual peaks in band A, but a flat line in band B.

This gives a simple check that the RBW is set correctly on the receiver.

The output signal is effectively continuous, so the detector used by the receiver should not materially affect the result.

This means that the quicker Peak detector can be used, saving time without compromising accuracy.

If used as a part of the standard procedure before each, this simple but effective device can ensure that test operators avoid time-consuming errors in test setups.
