Decade boxes provide accurate resistance values
Cropico
RM series of decade boxes
Cropico is offering the RM series of decade boxes for improved resistance simulation during electrical test and design of education equipment.
Decade boxes provide accurate and variable standard values of resistance and current for calibration, comparison and test applications in areas such as laboratories, science blocks or maintenance workshops.
Ideal for equipment used in higher-education facilities and universities, the RM series offers three options: RM6, RM6N and RM8.
The RM6 is a small, cost-effective decade box that has a total resistance of 11.1111 mega ohm with a resolution of 10 ohm.
The RM6N range features three models covering one ohm to 111,111 mega ohm, while an additional one kilo ohm resistor is available for greater flexibility.
The RM8 eight decade resistance box has double pole switching to minimise the effects of contact resistance.
It also offers a very wide range of 0.01 ohm to one mega ohm in a compact and versatile unit.
Gold-plated brass contacts on the switches ensure low contact resistance and negligible thermal EMF.
The resistor windings comprise an air cushioned technique that provides virtually stress-free elements for improved performance.
The elements are non-inductively wound and the direction of each winding is reversed at the half turn points.
Long-term stability makes the units suitable for precise resistance thermometer and insulation simulation.
Some models feature the Waidner Wolf technique to ensure high accuracy measurements of low values.
With resolution as low as 0.001 ohm, the Cropico decade resistance boxes are particularly suited to PT100 simulation.
The decade boxes form part of a wide range of Cropico precision measurement instrumentation available from the Seaward Group.
