Willtek adds Edge to Prolock test set
Willtek Communications
Edge/Prolock
Willtek Communications is supporting Edge measurements for its 2201 Prolock, a compact GSM and WCDMA communication test set.
These capabilities will help retailers and repair shops to check and repair Edge-enabled phones.
The Edge feature will be demonstrated for the first time at the CTIA Show in Las Vegas, and commercially available in June 2009.
With this option, Prolock will be able to set up a test call with the mobile phone or wireless data card under test, and perform 8PSK transmitter measurements.
The Edge capability is being added because some mobile phone manufacturers call for Edge testing in service for those phones that are GSM- and Edge-enabled, but do not support WCDMA.
Instruments in the field can be upgraded to Edge, and units ordered with Edge now can be delivered immediately; a simple firmware update in the field will add the Edge feature.
The 2201 Prolock is part of a system for testing GSM and WCDMA phones and data cards.
The instrument, along with an antenna coupler, a shielding chamber and PC software for easy operation, makes up a complete test system, as stipulated by handset manufacturers for accepting warranty claims.
