SDH/PDH tester
Trend Communications has launched the Trend Multipro SDH, a portable, handheld tester for technicians working on SDH and PDH services to 2.5 Gbits/s.
The rugged tester, the latest addition to the Trend Multipro range, covers SDH from STM-16 down to STM-0, PDH from E4 down to E1, and T-Carrier at DS3 and DS1.
The battery-operated tester features a large touchscreen.
The software modularity of the Multipro ensures that a wide variety of features can be added, covering installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of SDH and other networks.
To allow simple and rapid tests, the Trend Multipro SDH auto-configures itself, minimising operator involvement.
Tests which can be carried out by the instrument include BER, errors and alarms.
Optical interface kits cover a wide range of requirements, and include short- haul and long-haul for 1,310nm and 1,550nm wavelengths.
Sales and marketing director, Ken Foan, said: 'We have listened to customers and included what they want: fast scan, user-programmable pass/fail limits, full error performance tests, SFP (small form factor-pluggable) interfaces, as well as capture of OH bytes.' Ken Foan added that the Trend portable unit has a comprehensive set of error performance tests, as well as providing a complete set of event insertion modes.
The SDH application can easily combine with the existing GbE, providing systems in mixed-technology metropolitan area and transport networks.
It is available now from Trend's Maidenhead headquarters or from international sales offices.
