Analog Devices expands TxDAC data converter range

Analog Devices

AD9146 converter

Analog Devices has introduced a 16-bit digital-to-analogue converter for wired and wireless communication systems that features a combination of package size, speed and low noise.

The latest member of the company's TxDAC data converter portfolio, the 16-bit AD9146 digital-to-analogue converter achieves a data throughput rate of 1.2Gbit/sec and a low-noise specification of -164dBm/Hz in a 7 x 7mm LFCSP package.

The AD9146 converter also integrates an 8-bit low-voltage differential signalling (LVDS) interface and a low-noise phase-locked loop (PLL) clock multiplier, which allows design engineers to implement up to six transmit channels using half the PCB space previously required.

The converter features 2x and 4x interpolators with coarse modulation that enables baseband signals to be placed in the digital-to-analogue converter bandwidth to ease design engineers' system frequency planning.

The low-noise figure and an inter-modulation distortion (IMD) of 81dBc at 100MHz help this component to achieve a good adjacent-channel leakage ratio (ACLR) of 82dBc at 122MHz IF for W-CDMA single-channel applications.

Key features include: a flexible LVDS interface that allows byte or nibble load; a single-carrier W-CDMA ACLR equalling 82dBc at 122.88-MHz IF; an analogue output that is adjustable from 8.7mA to 31.7mA, RL = 25ohm to 50ohm; gain and phase adjustment for sideband suppression; and multiple chip synchronisation interfaces.
