TUV to safety test iPulse hair-removal device
TUV SUD Product Service
Safety testing
TUV Product Service has been appointed by Cyden to safety test and verify a new permanent hair-removal device.
This is the first product of its kind to be given approval to be sold directly to the general public, and is available exclusively in larger Boots stores.
Boots Smooth Skin by iPulse is a hair-removal system that uses intense pulsated light (IPL) technology, which, when used weekly for 6-12 weeks, will stop hair growth.
This treatment has only previously been offered through licensed salons and thanks to the TUV Product Service certification this technology is now available to those who want to treat themselves in their own home.
In order to bring the product to market, Cyden employed TUV Product Service to independently test the iPulse for a range of categories including heating, protection against electric shock and abnormal operating conditions to ensure it was safe for home use.
TUV Product Service is in the process of awarding the iPulse the GS Mark, a voluntary certification based on German safety laws that provides a strategic marketing advantage by demonstrating to consumers that the product has been independently tested.
