K250 lets RandS ETL test high-grade signal sources
Rohde and Schwarz
RandS ETL analyser
Rohde and Schwarz is offering new options for its RandS ETL for the DAB (digital audio broadcasting) and T-DMB (terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting) standards.
The options make the RandS ETL analyser perform all required RF measurements for DAB and T-DMB transmitters and networks.
The extensive signal analysis capabilities of the RandS ETL enable transmitter operators, transmitter manufacturers and regulatory authorities to selectively detect error sources, enabling them to quickly eliminate the causes in realtime.
The RandS ETL-K250 option features a modulation error ratio (MER) of greater than 40 dB, which allows precise testing of high-grade signal sources such as transmitters and modulators.
Channel impulse response and constellation diagram are created in realtime.
This enables users to swiftly evaluate signal quality on site when performing transmitter and coverage measurements.
All DAB or T-DMB programmes and data services are made visible on the instrument at a glance.
The RandS ETL also provides an ETI interface to transfer the demodulated transport stream to external equipment, where it can be analysed and further processed if necessary.
The T-DMB transmits television and radio programmes as well as data to mobile receivers such as mobile phones, handhelds or pocket PCs.
Rohde and Schwarz has contributed to testing T-DMB in practice.
The standard is no longer restricted to Asia; network operators are investing in such transmission systems worldwide.
DAB continues to gain ground as well.
More than 40 countries currently use this standard.
The RandS ETL-K250 option optimises the RandS ETL television analyser for acceptance, maintenance and service of T-DMB/DAB transmitters, quality assurance applications in transmitter test shops and coverage measurements in transmitter networks.
