Open, flexible development platform eases implementation of the TekExpress compliance test automation framework for Serial ATA and other complex serial data standards.
Tektronix has based its newly released TekExpress SATA (Serial ATA) automated compliance test solution on NI TestStand test management software.
NI TestStand gave Tektronix an open, flexible development platform that facilitated the implementation of the TekExpress compliance test automation framework for Serial ATA and other complex serial data standards.
With the ability to execute test modules in any programming language, a feature of NI TestStand, the TekExpress development team built a framework that can use the best programming language for each test module and seamlessly integrate multiple programming languages.
The NI TestStand high-speed execution engine helped the TekExpress SATA solution reduce compliance test time by approximately 70%.
"We chose NI TestStand for our TekExpress Framework and follow-on automated compliance test products because of its industry-wide acceptance, worldwide user base and network of integrators", says Jit Lim, Director, Technology Solutions Group, Tektronix.
"NI TestStand also gave us a proven software platform that is supported by National Instruments worldwide, which helped our distributed development team work more efficiently".
By using an off-the-shelf test management platform such as NI TestStand, Tektronix can extend the TekExpress compliance test automation framework to other serial data standards in the future.
In addition, Tektronix can use NI TestStand to automate other test operations around the compliance tests such as controlling thermal chambers.
"The adoption of NI TestStand for the TekExpress compliance test automation framework demonstrates the software's flexibility for both design validation and manufacturing test applications", says John Pasquarette, Director of Software Marketing for National Instruments.
"Tektronix, like all of our customers, benefits from the open NI TestStand platform to simplify maintenance and reuse code, which significantly reduces time to market".
