DB9-USB-RS232
Alpha Micro Components now offers the DB9-USB-RS232 from Future Technology Devices International (FTDI), suitable for upgrading and migrating to USB 2.0 for RS232 interfaces, including audio products.
Possible applications include a range of legacy applications that feature RS232 interfaces such as audio products, point of sale terminals, vehicle diagnostics and security and fire panels.
The DB9-USB-RS232 modules are designed to replace an existing DB9 and have the pin-for-pin factor for male or female RS232 connectors.
As a drop-in solution it removes any need for a processor overhead or embedded USB stack, providing a full USB slave interface that requires no external circuitry.
FTDI's robust and reliable design makes it a simple, fast and cost-effective solution for migrating legacy equipment.
This module uses a standard USB-MINI-B connector for connection to an upstream host or hub port.
As with all FTDI modules, the DB9-USB-RS232 is available using the royalty-free USB driver that suits the application best including Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2003, Vista, XP 2000, Linux and Mac OS X.
It can be used with USB 1.1 and 2.0 host and hub ports and Incorporates the industry standard FTDI chip set and device drivers for maximum compatibility.
Being powered by USB port means that no external power adaptor is needed.
The DB9-USB-RS232 has an operating temperature range of -40C to +85C and a serial port speed up to 1MB per second.
It installs as a standard Windows CM port.
