Itrax300 GPS receiver module

TME has introduced a 20-channel GPS receiver module for portable, battery-powered navigation devices, mobile computers, automotive navigation devices and mobile phones.

The Itrax300 module, which is particularly suitable for outdoor use, is based on the SirfstarIII chipset, according to the company.

The chipset ensures high sensitivity (-158dBm) and noise immunity, enabling navigation in cities with extremely high buildings.

When it comes to storing data about astronomical time, self position and satellite constellations in the memory, the hot time to first fix (TTFF) is just two seconds.

When there is no data availability, the module can operate within 40 seconds.

Low-supplying current consumption is achieved thanks to the user-configurable energy management solution.

Supported navigation systems include GPS, WAAS, EGNOS and MSAS.

The Itrax300 module is claimed to be simple to implement - the user has at his or her disposal eight multipurpose ports, one of which is able to interrupt operation.

Receiver data and module control data are transmitted in the form of NMEA or SiRF binary protocol to a master unit via an asynchronous serial port.

The module incorporates two ports of this kind.

The device is available in a surface-mount, 16.2 x 18.8 x 2.3mm, LGA housing with 30 terminals.

The main supply voltage is 3.0-3.3V and the sustain voltage is 2.5-3.3V.

The module can operate in temperatures from -40C to +85C.
