stand-alone GPS receiver
Alpha Micro Components has added u-blox's AMY-5M to its portfolio of GPS components.
The AMY-5M is a small stand-alone GPS receiver.
It is miniature in size (6.5 x 8 x 1.2mm) and allows integration into the smallest portable devices.
The ROM-based device features the high-performance 50-channel u-blox 5 positioning engine and has been developed for easy design implementation.
The module also works as a stand-alone device that can operate at 1.8V or 3V, and does not require host integration or additional components to function.
Designed to withstand a temperature range of -40C up to +85C, the receiver integrates a standard crystal, which brings very fast acquisition and tracking performance at an economical price.
AMY-5M handles u-blox's assisted GPS (Assistnow-Online and Assistnow-Offline) providing better start-up and tracking performance under weak signal conditions.
It can be assembled on a two-layer PCB, which leads to additional cost savings.
